Christopher as W.C. Fields at San Francisco's California Historical Society on 3/30/99
Christopher as Groucho Marx with a friend (a couple of 'em, in fact) in Sacramento on 9/18/94
Christopher and Jim Serfass as Truman Capote and Andy Warhol, respectively, from 10/99
Christopher with Joe Peer as Cheech (L-Joe) & Chong (R-Chris) at Nordstrom's in 10/96?
Christopher as Elvis Presley with the incredibly talented, vivacious, and gregarious Lynn Bali as Dolly Parton on New Year's Eve of 1998 at the Shodakai Casino north of Ukiah.
Christopher as Clark Gable (from the rodeo film The Misfits) with a beautiful but unknown impersonator as Marilyn Monroe and highly ethical talent agent Joe Bossenmaier nonetheless cast as a sleazy agent (Sorry, Joe...I couldn't resist! Hahaha!) at the U.S. Postal Service headquarters in Sacramento for the huge media debut of the Marilyn Monroe postage stamp on 6/1/95
Christopher as Senator Bob Dole at the Pan Pacific Hotel on 11/20/97
Christopher as Captain Crow's Nest with Miss Petaluma in the Veteran's Day parade in 1995?
Christopher as Crocodile Dundee in a slide presentation prepared for the national sales meeting of Danfoss Drives at the Downtown Chicago Marriott Hotel on 4/16/97...Christopher did all the research, writing, and photography for a "history of Danfoss Drives" slide presentation, complete with narration done as a Paul Harvey radio program, which included spoofs of Paul Harvey's characteristically staccato live commercials...featured were location self-portraits of Christopher as Laurel & Hardy for True Value Hardware stores and Crocodile Dundee for Nutragena hand creme...the shocked audience loved it
Christopher as and with journalist, Petaluma Argus Courier and Petaluma Post columnist, and self-described "peopleologist" Bill Soberanes at a Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce "Business After Hours" mixer at the office of architect John Fitzgerald...sadly, Bill died in 2003 after more that 80 years of living, 49 years of newspaper columns, and 30 years of marriage to his beautiful wife, friend, and partner, Jane. Bill lives on, though, in his reprinted columns in the Argus-Courier, in the heart of his widow and his thousands of devoted fans and readers, and in his impersonation by loving fan and friend, Christopher.
I miss you, Bill.
Christopher as Black Bart III being held up with his own gun by Clo the Cow at the grand opening of Clo's Ice Creamery on Summerfield Road in Santa Rosa in 7/96?
Christopher performed at the First Annual Sonoma County Cultural Arts Council Achievement in the Arts Award Dinner at which Santa Rosa Symphony Founder Corrick Brown was honored on 6/6/98 at Kendall Jackson Winery...Christopher did 2 hours of Walkaround as Groucho Marx. The photos above are of the Second Annual Dinner honoring "Peanuts" Cartoonist Charles Schultz on 8/7/99 at Ferrari-Carrano Winery...Christopher greeted attendees individually at the shuttle as Lt. Columbo, and entertained, guided, and made announcements to the crowd at large at the winery doing Walkaround throughout the grounds and around the buffet on stilts as Long Luigi Linguini, the 8-1/2-foot-tall Italian chef...the center photo above shows Luigi pestering Advanced Fibre Communications Founder Don Greene...
Fidel Castro always charms the ladies...here he and two new "amigas" are getting better-acquainted at a huge 10/23/99 fundraiser for the Center for Attitudinal Healing at the Marin County Civic Center...the Latina brunette is an aide to California State Senator Russ Johnson (which accounts for her startled expression when seeing the camera flash), the affectionate blond was a mystery to Fidel...he'd been in the jungle for a LONG time...
President Bill Clinton was a very popular character while in office, especially after he stained that young lady's dress...I play him as the swaggering, over-gregarious, womanizing, sexually-obsessed wolf he is perceived by most Americans to be...
Christopher and his partner, master stilt-walker Don Cassady, as Tall Tex and Short Mex, performing their shoot-out at the Red Bluff County Fair in 1992...Don and his wife travel all over the United States and Canada performing at hundreds of fairs...his stilted characters include Uncle Sam, Sir Massive, a knight dressed head-to-toe in shining armor, the Scarecrow, and other imaginative and elaborately costumed characters...Don is the best...
And now, going WAY back into "Christory"...
Christopher as Captain Mud with Reg Lester (still a sweaty little big man in the Santa Rosa radio market), Chris Hunter (now bullying people at KNEW), and Mike Alexander (really Michael Cimarelli...he married a beautiful newswoman, had children, and wisely quit radio in favor of making real money running his father's North Beach SF furniture store), all four members of the airstaff of KSRO-1350AM-Santa Rosa, at the Annual Kenwood Fourth of July Festival pillowfights in 1985...Captain Mud later won these muddy celebrity matches...
Christopher with the air staff of KTOB-1490AM-Petaluma at the Petaluma Speedway in about 1981 for the celebrity stock car race in which Christopher drove Ronny Davison's car, which had earlier that evening won two trophy dashes and a main event, from the lead right into the concrete wall in turn number four...other "KTOB Good Guys" spinning around in the mud that evening who are pictured above, from left to right, include Larry Chiaroni (now the overnight anchor on KCBS, living in the family home in Occidental, and married to former KSRO morning news anchor, Jim Grady sidekick, and mother, Sue McGuire), Ron Walters (the long-time KTOB morning man and Petaluma institution who retired from radio when the station sold repeatedly and one or more of the owners went bankrupt...Ron has now became a videographer, dba "NorthBay Images"), Kevin Rafferty (now a network sports announcer), Jim Knight (whereabouts unknown, but don't mess with his glasses!), Bob Nathan (went on to work for a Sacramento talk station at which we was, for a time, Rush Limbaugh's engineer), and Christopher...in the days when he was still young and beautiful and had a full head of hair...
